Daily News

A daily news is a newspaper that is printed and published every day. It contains articles about current events that are of interest to the public, and it often includes editorials and opinion pieces. Some examples of daily newspapers are The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. A daily newspaper can be a valuable source of information, and it is important for people to stay informed about the latest news and developments in their community.

The New York Daily News, also known as the NYC Daily News, is an American daily newspaper founded in 1919 by Joseph Medill Patterson in Jersey City, New Jersey, United States. The paper is widely recognized for its award-winning journalism, including investigative reporting, and is currently the second highest-circulated newspaper in the United States, with a circulation of about 7 million copies per day.

Until 1995, the newspaper was headquartered at 220 East 42nd Street near Second Avenue in Manhattan, an official city and national landmark designed by architects John Mead Howells and Raymond Hood that featured a large globe in its lobby. It was the model for the Daily Planet building in the first two Superman films. The Daily News moved to 450 West 33rd Street (also known as 5 Manhattan West) in 1995.

In addition to covering local news and politics, the Daily News provides international coverage of sports, business, and entertainment. The paper also features local arts and culture and serves as a platform for debate on the issues that matter to its readers.

Each daily news article is accompanied by “Comprehension and Critical Thinking Questions” for students to use in their reading and writing assignments. These questions are included to help students understand the news story and make connections to other topics they are learning about in school. In addition, we provide “Background” and “Resources” for each article to give students additional information to support their understanding of the topic.

In the wake of the takeover of Tribune Publishing by cost-slashing hedge fund Alden Global Capital, editors at the 102-year-old Daily News are jittery about the future of the paper and its staff. Some have resigned in protest, and others have been fired. Nevertheless, the editors and staff remain dedicated to providing high-quality news and information to their readers.
