Exercises to Lose Weight

Exercising is often one of the most feared parts of losing weight. Don’t worry though, exercising doesn’t have to be boring or difficult. In fact, it should be one of the most enjoyable things about your plan to lose weight.

Just as with your diet, it is important to find an exercise program that you enjoy so you will stick to it for the long term. When you find the right exercise program you may actually start to enjoy going to the gym!

Cardio

Aerobic exercise (cardio) such as walking, running, or riding a bike is usually the first type of exercise that comes to mind to lose weight fast. While these are certainly good exercises, they won’t help you to lose weight much faster than diet alone. This is because they burn relatively few calories.

Aerobic exercise is good for your health though. If one of your goals is to improve your health then including some aerobic exercise is a good idea. However, if your goal is only to lose weight quickly, then it’s not as important.

Resistance training

Resistance training is an important part of your exercise program to lose weight. Resistance training strengthens and tones the muscles so that they are firm.

Resistance training also helps to build muscle, which is important for weight loss since muscle increases your metabolism. This means that you will burn more calories even when you aren’t exercising!

One of the common concerns for women is that resistance training will make them big or bulky. But if you follow the correct guidelines your muscles won’t get big. Instead they will get lean and toned which will enhance your appearance and your metabolism!

Exercising at home

When you think about exercising your might picture yourself in a gym. However, you can get just as good a workout at home, even without any exercise equipment.

This can save you time since you won’t have to travel to the gym, and money since you won’t have to pay a membership fee.

So even if joining a gym isn’t for you, there is no excuse for not exercising!
